Record Makers
Updated: 12:06PM January 12th, 2007

They might be "oldies" but they're "goldies"!

Our 320+ aged mixed relay team of Casper Haupt (83), Doris McEwan (82), Muriel Carlyle(81), and youngster Egon Weber (78) made provincial history at the swim meet in Kingston, Sun. Nov. 19th. Their combined ages are 324 years!

They set an Ontario record for the 200 Mixed (2 females & 2 males) Freestyle relay. It was just two seconds off the Canadian record. Doris lead off the event with a split of :47.7, then Muriel swam her 50 meters in 1:23.1. Egon was next with a time of :52.9 and the relay was anchored by Casper in a time of 47.7, for a total time of 3:51.34. Now that they know what the Canadian record is for this event, they’ll be trying their best to break it. Just half a second faster per swimmer and they’ve got it! (Also there isn’t a Medley relay Ontario record, so expect to see these four going for it at our swim meet in January).

Congratulations team! Sixteen swimmers from our club competed in Kingston. There was a
good mix of young and old members plus at least two swimmers that were trying Masters competion was noted by Coach Norm, that Guy was representing both lane 2 & lane 3 morning swimmers! There were many excellent swims and lots of learning by our members, even-though the organization of this swim meet was not up to it’s previous standards.

The next meet we plan to attend as a team, is the one hosted by us on Sun. Jan. 28th, 2007. This year, UCSC will run the meeting leaving our members free to compete. Please mark your calendars for Sun. Jan. 28th !

Design Our Club Logo
Updated:12:58PM January 12th, 2007

Although there is a lot of history with the club logo (designed over 20 years ago by M.
Carlyle when computer graphics were limited), we’d like to look at updating the logo. We’re asking you, as members, to bring us your designs. There are a few key aspects to keep, specifically the
1000 Islands reference. We’d like to get any ideas or designs you may have as soon as possible.
Our next advisory committee will look at any designs submitted and then bring them forward to the
club membership to have a look at. Please let any Advistory Committee member know you have an idea or design, so we can look at it in January.
